编者按 近日，一位哲学系学生代其父亲蔡贯明先生送来一篇特殊的稿件。蔡贯明从事英语教学40年，对英国语言文学多有心得，他将过去所写旧体诗译成了英文，对其功力，外院从丛老师亦颇为嘉许。因其中一首诗为秋日登高所作，秋光又至，特刊于此，与读者共飨。
On Ascending
Step by step,leisurely ascending am I.
Maples crimson,insects bustle about,chirping.
The hills show their jade green in the sunshine.
I gaze out at the Yangtse endlessly running.
登高
信步拾级上，
枫赤虫鸣忙。
日照群峰碧，
回眸江流长。
Farewell to Gaodong!
In thunder storm,Shell Mound witnessed distinguishing friend and enemy.
At Cheng－gao,nobodies fought against the despots,die－hard and greedy.
In Dawn Town,I taught the students,improving myself,night and day.
At Swallow Stream,I'm hoisting the sails merrily and merrily.
别了皋东
虫宾山风雨辨人妖，
成皋竖子战顽饕。
晓塘耕读夜续书，
燕川扬帆乐陶陶。
